Growing
up on a farm I participated in many animal births. I am the
oldest girl, second oldest of nine children. The family birth
stories that I grew up with seemed contrived and manipulated,
so unlike the animal births I witnessed. During my 12-year
career as a veterinarian technician, I became more interested
and connected to the instinctual nature of animals and realized
we humans had a lot to learn.
I
was completing my last year of training at CoreStar
Energy Healing, a three -year curriculum based on the
Barbara Brennan School in New York, when I first heard about
HypnoBirthing®. Our family was eagerly awaiting the birth
of our first granddaughter. Her mother, guided through her
instinct and synchronicity, learned about HypnoBirthing® and
shared the information with me. That led me to Missouri Institute
of Hypnotherapy, where I trained with Linda Gentry and received
my C.Ht. (Certified Hypnotherapist). I then trained and received
HypnoBirthing® certification with Marie Mongan in St. Louis.
My
first HypnoBirthing® client was a labor and delivery nurse
practitioner pregnant with her second child. She and her husband
completed the 12-hour course of training in two days and the
baby was born eight days later. The parents called four hours
after the birth while eating pizza in the hospital – jubilant.
In
2004, I completed training as post-partum doula. I am able
to provide this service and continue to work on the practicum
for certification.
The
inspiration I received from the mothers and fathers I work
with has profoundly affected my commitment to HypnoBirthing®.
I become a stronger teacher and more informed resource with
each incredible couple I am honored to work/learn with. My
hope for realizing a deeper connection: connection to family,
connection to instinctual wisdom is reborn with each success
story.
